Mission team and work
Our Mission and Ethos team support a strong collaboration with the community, congregations and presbyteries.
Local Engagement Groups (LEGs) across Victoria and Tasmania continue to strengthen and grow relationships in local communities.
Local Engagement Groups aim to:
- Build and promote positive relationships with Uniting, the Church and community at the local and regional level
- Exchange information
- Lead and support local fundraising initiatives
- Explore new local community service initiatives
- Create a forum for social justice and advocacy
- Share resources.
Director of Mission
Dr Jessica Hateley-Browne
Dr Jessica Hateley-Browne has two decades of experience across the health and social policy and service delivery sectors, with a background in research and evaluation. Jessica is an active member of the Uniting Church in Australia and serves in a variety of ways in her local congregation, in the Synod of Vic.Tas, and in the national Assembly context. Jessica is a previous member of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania Standing Committee, and served on the Assembly Act2 Project Steering Group. Jessica retired from the Board in January 2024, and is now Director of Mission at Uniting Vic.Tas.

Cheryl Lawrie
Cheryl’s background bridges both community services and the church. Most recently she was Executive Officer with CAN Community Support, which is part of the Carlton (Church of All Nations) Parish Mission.
